Born in Queens New York in 1973, the actor has found much accomplishment and fulfillment since beginning his professional career in 1988. Released in 2005 but set in 1933 New York City during the Great Depression, the film follows actress Ann Darrow (Naomi Watts) who is hired by Carl Denson, played by the eccentric Jack Black, a financially distressed filmmaker who leaves her and the screenwriter, Jack Driscoll (Adrien Brody) under the impression that they will be sailing to Singapore to film. However, he is secretly planning to take them to the mysterious Skull Island where the unknown awaits them. While on the voyage, Ann and Jack fall in love, but the captain of the vessel, Captain Englehorn (Thomas Kretschmann) is having second thoughts. When they arrive on Skull Island and begin filming, they are attacked by natives who abduct Ann to offer her as a sacrifice to a 25-foot tall ape named King Kong. That's when their adventures take a disastrous turn. The film grossed $550.517 million at the box office.
The Village - $257.641 Million
Brody's next film, The Village, despite receiving mixed views, was actually a box office success! The period thriller film can be seen as more of a psychological film as it focuses on the gripping fear of the residents in an isolated 19th-century village in Pennsylvania. They are in fear of humanoid creatures who they refer to as "Those Of Whom We Don't Speak." The villagers have created a barrier of oil lanterns that block any of the villagers from entering the village. However, when Lucius Hunt, played by Joaquin Phoenix, wanders into the village unannounced, and the creatures respond by leaving splashes of red paint on the doors of the villagers. Then when Ivy Elizabeth Walker (Bryce Dallas Howard), who is the blind daughter of Chief Elder Edward Walker (William Hurt), reveals her deep feelings for him. After he reciprocates those feelings, he is stabbed with a knife by Noah Percy, who also confesses his love for her. As the movie progresses, it is revealed that the creatures are actually some of the villagers dressed in a costume. The film goes on to gross $257.641 million at the box office.
The Grand Budapest Hotel - $163.503 Million
Written, directed, and produced by Wes Anderson, The Grand Budapest Hotel is a 2014 comedy-drama that tells a story in only the way that Wes Anderson can. The film begins with the owner of The Grand Budapest Hotel, Zero Moustafa (Tony Revolori), as he tells his rags to riches story of how he became the owner of the hotel. Set in 1932, Zero recounts his first day being hired as a lobby boy and working under the hotel's concierge, Monsieur Gustave H. (Ralph Fiennes). He has a penchant for seducing old, wealthy, wealthy clients, chief of who is an 84-year-old woman named Madame D., portrayed by Tilda Swinton, whose son is Dmitri (Adrien Brody). After she mysteriously dies a month after her last hotel visit, Gustave is arrested under suspicion of her murder. It's even more convincing that he may be the murderer after her attorney, Deputy Vilmos Kovacs (Jeff Goldblum), finds out that Madame D. secured a priceless Renaissance painting, Boy With Apple, to Gustave in her will. Against a budget of $25 million, the film grossed $163.503 at the box office.
Midnight In Paris - $162.275 Million
Despite the career-shattering allegations made against Woody Allen, he has still made a number of great movies, such as the 2011 fantasy comedy, Midnight in Paris. The film is set in 2010 and follows Gil Pender acted by Owen Wilson, a Hollywood screenwriter, who is vacationing in Paris with his fiancée, Inez (Rachel McAdams) by her wealthy Republican parents. Gil is currently writing his debut novel about a man who is working in a nostalgia shop in the 1920s and is fascinated with the artistic history of Paris. However, after getting drunk on a night out with Inez, her friend Paul played by Michael Sheen and his wife Carol (Nina Arianda), Gil wanders the streets of Paris where he insists that after a 1920s car pulled up next to him, he time-traveled to the 1920s and met various famous composers and novelists of that time, such as Cole Porter, Scott Fitzgerald, Josephine Baker, and Ernest Miller Hemingway. The film was a huge success, grossing $162.275 million at the international box office.
Predators - $127.234 Million
Released in 2010, Predators is a science fiction action film that is the third installment of the Predator franchise. The film begins bizarrely with Royce (Adrien Brody), a former U.S. Special Operations Forces veteran free-falling into a remote jungle. Falling behind him, in the same manner, is Mexican cartel enforcer named Cuchillo (Danny Trejo), a Soviet Special forces soldier named Nikolai (Oleg Taktarov), an Israeli sniper named Isabelle (Alice Braga), Stans (Walton Goggins), Hanzo (Louis Ozawa Changchien), and a general practice physician named Edwin (Topher Grace). After realizing they are not on planet earth, Royce deduces that they must be on a game reserve planet where humans are hunted. They are even more convinced of this when they are attacked by a pack of alien beasts.
Soon, they encounter Ronald Nolan played by Laurence Fishburne, a US Army Air Cavalry soldier who has survived on the remains of Predator victims. He also reveals that there is a blood feud between the larger and smaller Predators, the latter of which have been imprisoned by the larger Predators. As they are hunted one by one, only Royce and Isabella are left to escape the planet. The film grossed $127.234 million at the box office.
Dragon Blade (Tian Jiang Xiong Shiu) - $122.519 Million
Directed by the Hong Kong film director and producer, Daniel Lee, Dragon Blade, also known as Tian Jiang Xiong Shiu, is a historical action film set in 48 BC in northwest China. A security company called the Silk Road Protection Squad under Han China's present government and captained by Huo An (Jackie Chan) who is committed to stopping battles. They are soon threatened by a legion from the Roman Empire headed by Lucius who is portrayed by John Cusack who approaches the Wild Geese Gate in search of water and supplies. After the two ensue in a stale-mated duel, Lucius reveals that he and his men and fleeing from Emperor Tiberius (Adrien Brody), a ruthless, corrupt soldier who killed his own father. The two generals work together as they prepare to face Tiberius' 10,000 soldiers. On a budget of $65 million, the film grossed $122.519 million at the box office.
The Pianist - $111.854 Million
By the sound of the film's name, The Pianist, one might think this movie is merely about a man's desire to become a professional piano player. However, the biological war drama film is much more profound and focuses on the life of a Polish-Jewish pianist named Władysław Szpilman (Adrien Brody), a classical composer who survived the horrors of the Nazi German invasion of 1939. At the time, the land of Poland is promised help from Britain and France as they have declared war on Germany, but help never arrives. Szpilman is moved to the Warsaw ghetto and becomes part of the Nazi-controlled government, with his quarters controlled by Captain Wilm Hosenfeld (Thomas Kretschmann), who forces them to wear blue Star of David armbands to be identified as Jews. Despite the harsh conditions, death, and carnage all around him, Szpilman survived and died on July 6, 2000, at the age of 88. The film more than doubled its budget, grossing $111.854 million at the box office.
The Thin Red Line - $97.709 Million
Directed by Terrence Malick, Thin Red Line is an epic war film made as a screen adaptation of the 1962 novel of the same name by James Jones. Quite unlike other war films, such as Pearl Harbor with Ben Affleck, Josh Hartnett, and Kate Beckinsale, The Thin Red Line tells a fictionalized rendition of the Battle of Mount Austen of World War II. Some of the main actors in the film include Sean Penn as the lead, Adrien Brody, Jim Caviezel, Ben Chaplin, George Clooney, John Cusack, Woody Harrelson, and Jared Leto. The film was described by some critics as the finest contemporary war film since Steven Spielberg's Saving Private Ryan. The film grossed $97.709 million at the box office.
Angels In The Outfield - $50.236 Million
A product of Disney Channel, Angels in The Outfield is a family sports fantasy comedy-drama that was made as a remake of the same name in 1951 and was even followed by made-for-TV sequels like Angels in the Endzone and Angels in the Infield starring Christopher Lloyd and Patrick Warburton respectively. The film follows the storyline of a foster child named Roger Bomman (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) who loves to watch the California Angels baseball games. After questioning his widowed father, Mr. Bomman (Dermot Mulroney) tells him it'll happen "when the Angels win the pennant." He takes these words literally and begins to pray to God for the Angels to win, which is answered by actual angels, led by Al (Christopher Lloyd), which only he can see. Fantastic Mr. Fox - $47 Million
It's not every time that a box office figure demonstrates the overall success and reception of a movie, and that is clearly seen with the stop motion animated comedy, Fantastic Mr. Fox, directed by the eccentric filmmaker, Wes Anderson. The film follows a career thief named Mr. Fox, played exceptionally well by George Clooney who gets caught in a trap along with his wife Felicity (Meryl Streep) while attempting to raid Berk's Squab Farm. This marks the last straw for Felicity, who is pregnant and tells Mr. Fox that he needs to find a safer means of work for his family. Mr. Fox takes his wife's advice and becomes a newspaper columnist, but this doesn't last as his friend Kylie (Wallace Wolodarsky) encourages him to steal produce from a poultry farm. Other voicing actors include Willem Dafoe, Bill Murray, Jason Schwartzman, and Owen Wilson. The film went on to gross $47 million at the box office.
